    Stef and Josh Frew

    Owners

    Stef and Josh Frew are the proud new owners of Fitstop Hope Island, fulfilling a dream they've had for nearly 10 years. They are very excited to be part of the Hope Island community.

    Stef has a background in coaching group fitness and can be found in the club either leading sessions, training with the group, or cheering members on. She loves helping people push past their perceived limits and continually strive for more. Fitness has profoundly impacted her life, teaching her valuable lessons about hard work, setting goals, and the satisfaction these bring. Stef's goal is to help others discover these benefits for themselves.

    Josh is a Geotechnical Engineer with a lifelong passion for sports and fitness. He has competed in various sports, including motorsport, cycling (both road and MTB), and running, and has always been an avid gym-goer. Like Stef, fitness has given him focus and drive, teaching him that hard work leads to great results. Josh aims to create a community where others can experience the same benefits. While you may not see Josh as often as Stef, when you do, you'll find him training hard, encouraging others, and is always up for a chat.

    Together, Stef and Josh are dedicated to creating a supportive and motivating environment at Fitstop Hope Island.

    Aaliyah Metcalf

    Trainer

    Meet Aaliyah, a high-energy, passionate, and supportive coach who thrives on helping people push past their limits and discover what they’re truly capable of. Known for her loud, bubbly personality and infectious positivity, Aaliyah brings a mix of encouragement, accountability, and a few laughs to every session.

    Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, Aaliyah moved to the Gold Coast in February 2024 and has been on a mission to become the best version of herself. A semi-professional netball player, playing in the Gold Coast Titans with 9 years of netball experience & extensive sporting background, she knows what it takes to train with purpose, juggle a busy schedule, and stay committed to big goals. Alongside netball, she’s competed in a HYROX and is currently training for her first half marathon this year.

    If it’s not netball, you can bet she’s got another challenge lined up and ready to train for. With a huge passion for women’s health, fitness, and performance, Aaliyah is dedicated to levelling up her coaching skillset to become your go-to women’s holistic health and performance coach. With Aaliyah in your corner, you’ll train harder, move better, and leave every session feeling stronger, prouder, and part of something bigger.

    Cole Morgan

    Trainer

    Meet Cole, originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, Cole made the move to the Gold Coast in December 2025. With a strong sporting background, he’s played rugby union for 16 years, basketball for 10 years, touch football for 12 years, and has been involved in a range of other sports throughout his life.

    Cole has experience coaching across both group fitness and one-on-one personal training. He enjoys helping people work towards their goals and takes pride in creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and challenged at their own level.

    He is known for his friendly nature and positive attitude, Cole loves bringing good energy to every session. Whether he’s coaching on the gym floor, playing sport, or spending time with family and friends, he enjoys being around people and helping others get the best out of themselves.

    James Reale

    Trainer

    James has been immersed in the fitness world his entire life. Growing up in a family passionate about weightlifting and bodybuilding, the gym has always been a second home.

    Over the years, James has developed a diverse training background, including yoga, boxing, and functional fitness racing. Through these experiences, he’s come to believe that strength training is one of the most valuable things we can do for our health and longevity.

    James believes lifting weights is far simpler than many people think. His coaching style focuses on breaking things down into easy-to-understand, practical steps, helping people build confidence, move well, and get stronger.

Our community

Our group strength training is built on athlete-inspired programming and proven performance methods. We design every session to translate into real-world strength and capability.
