Recently, 63 Fitstop owners, managers and trainers from Queensland locations came together for a dedicated ERG Army Trainer Day, organised and delivered by our Athletic Performance Team.
The goal was simple: raise the standard of coaching, sharpen technical execution, and create more confident, knowledgeable trainers — without adding extra workload for owners.
What Is ERG Army?
ERG Army is a specialised education system focused on mastering Concept2 ergometers, including the Rower, SkiErg and BikeErg. These tools are foundational to performance-based training and they’ve become even more relevant as events like HYROX, Turf Games and functional fitness competitions continue to grow in popularity.
As more members train with performance events in mind, understanding how to coach ergs properly isn’t optional — it’s essential.
The certification dives deep into:
- Erg technique and efficiency
- Performance metrics and data interpretation
- Coaching cues that improve output and reduce injury risk
- Programming intent and energy system development
For trainers, this means moving beyond “just using the erg” to coaching it with purpose, precision and confidence, whether a member is training for their first race, chasing a podium, or simply wanting to move better and feel stronger.
Why This Matters for Members
When trainers are better educated, the member experience lifts — instantly.
ERG Army certification equips Fitstop coaches to:
- Deliver clearer, more effective coaching cues
- Improve member performance and confidence on ergs
- Create sessions that feel purposeful, engaging and results-driven
- Elevate the overall standard of each class
Members don’t just feel fitter, they understand why they’re training the way they are, how it connects to their goals, and how each session is moving them forward. The outcome equals a stronger product, better sessions, and members who feel coached.
A System That Works Without Constant Oversight
What sets Fitstop apart is that education isn’t reactive, it’s proactive and systemised. Additional trainer upskilling is led at a network level, delivered by specialists, and aligned with how the Fitstop product is designed to perform in the real world, including the evolving demands of performance-based events.
Built for Scale. Designed for Sustainability.
The ERG Army Trainer Day is just one example of how Fitstop continues to invest in education that supports both trainers and members. It reflects a broader philosophy: when trainers are empowered and supported, the member benefits in the long run!
